How to Not Sabotage Your Brand
Building your content with clear messaging to make sure you’re creating with clarity and purpose.
If you’ve been throwing all * the * things * at the wall to see what sticks or you’ve made the claim that everyoneeee is your customer or maybe you’re even posting the *same thing* on every platform... I’m sorry to tell you, but you’re missing the mark.
What you’re going to end up with is messy walls, confused audiences, who [spoiler alert] won’t buy from you, and content that gets glossed over and simply fades into the background in 0.02 seconds.
Let’s take a look at a few of the questions to ask yourself when creating content. This will help you use your branding to position yourself as THE expert and become top-of-mind in your area.
Starting with Brand Strategy you’ll need to hold your ideas up to your brand guidelines from the start. If you don’t have a brand strategy (yet) which, trust me - I knowwww most of you out there don’t… it’s time to GET one! This will serve you more than you know.
Next, you’ll want to consider your Creative Direction. Your ideas usually spark the action so it’s okay to let your imagination fly as you suss out all the possibilities.
And I mean suss out in the cool London lingo kinda way (as in figuring it all out)...not “sus” like the gen z lingo where things seem suspicious. Though some of your ideas mayyyy be worthy of suspicion without a brand strategy.
Weigh everything against your Purpose. This means you need to determine what you want to post & WHY. - consider your (WPP) whole picture purpose! how does it fit your goals?
After solidifying your purpose, meaning you’re not just creating content for the sake of creating content (and becoming white noise), you’ll need to ensure it fits with your Audience. Who are you trying to attract? This will determine how your content is created and how you hone the topic.
Now, what Platform are you going to utilize? Let’s get your content in the right format to appeal to your audience and make sure it has the highest impact. Your voice and messaging will change as you find your optimal outlet.
Then put it all on repeat! You’ll want to hit a topic over and over so you’re not constantly reinventing the wheel.
